The laser cutting machine contains focusing &collimating lens, protective windows, and QBH. When the lens are contaminated or damaged, it will seriously affect the normal operation of the laser cutting machine, so it is very important to maintain the lens. Next, New Focus will share with you some methods of maintaining lens:

  • Precautions for using lens
  1. For optical surfaces such as focusing & collimating lens, protective windows, and QBH, be sure to avoid direct contact with the lens surface with your hands. Damage may lead to scratches or corrosion on the mirror surface.
  2.  If there is oil stains or dirt inside the lens, clean it in time. Do not use any water, detergent, etc. to clean the lens surface, as this will seriously affect the use of the lens.
  3. During use, if the lenses are placed in a dark and humid place, the optical lenses will age.
  4. When installing or replacing the reflector, focusing mirror and protective mirror, if strong pressure is used, the optical mirror will be deformed and the beam quality will be affected.
  • Lens installation precautions
  1. Wear clean clothes, wash your hands with soap or water, and wear white gloves.
  2. Take out the lens from the head and avoid direct contact with the lens surface.
  3. Do not blow into the lenses when wearing them.
  4. To avoid falling or colliding, place the optical lens on the table with a few pieces of lens professional paper underneath.
  5. The lens holder where the lens is installed should be kept clean. First use a clean air spray gun to remove dirt, and then gently place the lens into the lens holder.
  • Lens cleaning steps

Different lens cleaning methods are different. When the mirror surface is flat and has no lens holder, use lens tissue to clean it; when the mirror surface is curved or has a lens holder, use cotton swabs to clean it. Specific steps are as follows:

Lens paper cleaning steps:

  1. Use an air spray gun to blow off the dust on the lens surface, clean the lens surface with alcohol or lens paper, place the smooth side of the lens paper flat on the lens surface, drop 2-3 drops of alcohol or acetone, and then pull it out horizontally towards the operator Lens paper, repeat the operation several times until clean.
  2. It is prohibited to put pressure on the lens paper. If the mirror surface is very dirty, you can fold it in half 2-3 times.
  3. It is prohibited to drag dry lens paper directly on the mirror surface.

  • Steps for cleaning lenses with cotton swabs
  1. Use a spray gun to blow off the dust and use a clean cotton swab to remove the dirt.
  2. Use a cotton swab dipped in high-purity alcohol or acetone to move in a circular motion from the center of the lens to scrub the lens. Use another clean cotton swab after every week until the lens is clean.
  3. Observe the cleaned lenses until there are no dirt or spots on the surface.
  4. Use a new cotton swab to clean the lens. If there are debris on the surface, use rubber air to blow the surface of the lens.
  5. Cleaned lenses cannot be exposed to the air and should be installed as soon as possible or temporarily stored in a clean sealed container.
